Een documentaire is een non-fictiefilm waarbij de maker een beeld probeert te geven uit de realiteit zoals: de politiek, geschiedenis, maatschappij of wetenschap. Vaak is het geen wat een documentaire sterk maakt de opbouw van het verhaal of de manier waarop iets wordt verteld en overgebracht wordt. Vaak willen documentaire makers een boodschap overdragen op het publiek en door spraakmakende beelden te tonen lukt dat ook erg vaak.
